About this piece
Les Staffordshire Frenchies! is a playful pair of French Bulldogs inspired by traditional Staffordshire porcelain dogs. The symmetrical composition combines bold black-and-white linocut forms with blue details and hand-painted gold collars, giving a contemporary twist to the decorative ceramic pairs that inspired the piece.
Natalie begins with her own drawing before transferring the design to lino and carving it by hand. Each impression is individually printed using a hand press and artist-quality Charbonnel ink on 160 gsm A4 paper. The collars and chains are then individually finished by hand with gold-coloured Winsor & Newton acrylic paint.
Because each impression is printed and finished individually by hand, small variations in colour, tone and detail are natural. These subtle differences are part of the printmaking process and give each piece its own character.
The artwork is available with either a round or heart-shaped pendant on the collar and is supplied unframed.
Packaging
Each print is protected in a vegetable-based, eco-friendly cellophane wrapper and posted in a recycled cardboard envelope.
