Pretty Flamingo

Pretty Flamingo is a colourful hand-printed linocut celebrating the distinctive form and character of the flamingo. Pink and blue combine with a repeating graphic background to create a playful, bold composition built around clean shapes and strong areas of colour.

Natalie begins with her own drawing before transferring the design to lino and carving the image by hand. For Pretty Flamingo, she uses a jigsaw printmaking technique to create the two-colour design. Each impression is individually printed using a hand press and artist-quality Charbonnel ink on 160 gsm A4 paper.

Because every impression is printed by hand, small variations in colour, tone and impression are natural. These subtle differences are part of the character of the printmaking process and make each print individually produced.
